Currently I spend 2 thirds of my time in a development role and 1 third in my Systems Administrator role. In my development role I've created several web applications and sites for the college as well as helping to maintain the intranet and web site. I primarily work with PHP, MySQL and JQuery and I'm currently working on developing our Mobile sites. For more information about the Systems Administrator part of my job, see below.
My major projects include :
By combining my 2 roles I've been able to access our databases to provide staff with custom reports created on the Intranet. For instance, admin staff are able to search for a new employee to see how far they have made it through the various systems and databases (Personnel, MIS, ID cards etc.) and see if their account has been created successfully. By creating little tools like this I can work more efficiently as staff are now able to identify where a problem is by themselves.
I've also been able to create Inranet pages where staff can update their own information which then automatically filters through to the required databases / directories via the drivers that I've set up in Identity Manager.
Recently I've been developing a "single sign-on" set up to allow users on to our wireless network and Intranet in an easier manner.
As Systems Administrator I am primarily responsible for looking after our Linux servers and network security. In recent times, this role has turned into more of a database administrator type role and I find I'm often maintaining our MySQL, MSSQL and Oracle databases. I set up SQL queries to allow staff to access the data in these databases via the Intranet. I also maintain and develop our Identity Management setup which hooks in to our databases and directories and allows data to automatically move between them. Read more
Primarily my systems administrator role consists of :
My first role at the college was supporting end users as part of the IT Services team. This involved fixing hardware and software problems and maintaining network accounts. I also looked after the college's Apple Macs and the wireless network.

Created web-sites for, amongst others, New Forest Children's Triathlon, The Petersfied Society and the Hampshire Sixth Form Colleges Partnership.
Clean driving licence.
I'm fluent in Swedish and have a good knowledge of French.
I'm a very keen gardener and grow a lot of my own fruit and vegetables. I'm currently building a pond in my garden using recycled materials.
I regularly play badminton, enjoy cycling and I occasionally play football. At school I captained the hockey team.
